Boys' room Lucas

I'll be designing Lucas' very first Tuk Makeover room in the winter of 2024. After I've finished my design for his new room, I'll be visiting Patty and Herbert in December to admire the final result. Lucas is so proud of his cool boy's room, designed especially for him! Want to see the very first Tuk Makeover boy's room?

A new nursery

Herbert and Patty were about to move to a completely renovated house in Heemstede when I contacted them for Tuk Make-Over. A move like that was a big step, and quite exciting for the children too! Patty: “On the one hand, Lucas was really looking forward to the new house, but on the other hand, he couldn't quite picture it. He had a lot of questions: Where would we live, which room would be mine, what would my room look like, and would all my stuff come with me? To make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for him, we decided to work with him to figure out what his new room should look like.”

Arranging and furnishing Lucas' boy's room

It was time to start planning the boys' room. "We wanted the rooms to suit the children, their ages, but also reflect our own interior design style. We extended Lucas's room and incorporated the adjoining balcony into his room. This turned it into a narrow, long room. We found it challenging to furnish it properly. Luckily, we were able to participate in the Tuk Make-Over concept for Lucas's room, and Elina helped us design the interior!"

Lucas was allowed to have a say in the design of his room, so it would truly be his new space. The Studio Ditte wallpaper was an immediate favorite, and he also wanted a play area in his boy's room, a place to draw, and a space to listen to music and relax. His favorite colors, green and blue, were also a must. Patty: "The room had to suit him, his age, but also fit our 'style,' and not be too outlandish. We also wanted to prevent him from getting tired of his room in two years, so timelessness was a plus."

Boys room with green and blue

Patty says Lucas is incredibly proud of his new room. She's also thrilled with the final result; it suits them both. "The wallpaper on the wall turned out fantastic! At first, I thought it would be way too much in this narrow room. But Elina combined the wallpaper in such a way that it's actually a perfect addition. The room doesn't seem so long and narrow anymore. Lucas is especially happy with his beautiful lounge chair. He's displayed all his own crafts and Lego creations on the shelves. And he finally has his own desk; he's wanted one for so long! The end result speaks for itself. A cool Lucas room. His favorite wallpaper and his favorite colors. A room he'll hopefully enjoy for a long time."
