Girls' room Feline

In Herbert and Patty's new home, a beautiful, spacious room awaited their daughter Feline. The square room had a charming little alcove under the stairs to the attic, a surprise addition, and required a well-designed interior design plan. Their desire to create a calm toddler room with wooden furniture, but with a touch of color, became the inspiration for this beautiful room and one of the first Tuk Makeovers!

Feline was given a room to dream, play and grow in.

An atmospheric toddler room

After months of renovations, the family moved into their new house, which was five minutes from their old one. The house belonged to Herbert's aunt and uncle.

Moving wasn't on our minds at all, but we couldn't pass up this opportunity. It's a beautiful house with a lovely, large garden. Among other things, it houses a large workshop, which Herbert can really use for his work. The children can play outside here in the summer. It's a unique spot in Heemstede, with so many possibilities.

A children's room that is really finished

In the run-up to the renovation and move, Patty approached me for Mini Advice on Feline's room, for which she already had plenty of ideas but had been unable to come up with a concrete plan.

Renovating an entire house takes a lot of time and money. There are many decisions to be made. And when you do it, you want to do it right the first time. This also applies to the children's rooms. In our previous house, the children's rooms were never really finished, and I really wanted to change that this time. Then Elina came along with her new photoshoot, Tuk Make-Over, and suggested I do a complete makeover for Feline's room. The ideas, the color combinations, the wallpaper, the beautiful furniture and decor. We could never have imagined this ourselves; it was so wonderful!

Girls room paint and wallpaper

When you have an empty room that needs to be decorated from scratch, it can sometimes be difficult to imagine the possible final result. What effect will certain choices have on the room? Choosing a color palette to establish the room's foundation can be the most challenging first step.

At Feline, we chose warm beige tones combined with soft pink. You'll see two beige shades from the Studio Day at the Zoo paint collection: Crunch on all the walls and BonBon in the niche under the attic stairs. Using different shades adds a touch of excitement to your color palette. Under the beautiful floral wallpaper from Summer Gray, we used Pink Clay, which works beautifully for that truly romantic touch.

Patty: "We're really happy with how everything fits together so well. The different colors in her room are a beautiful match. We were quite excited about the floral wallpaper; it looks quite busy on such a small sample. Also, the 'green' cabinet—we would never have thought of that ourselves. But it turned out fantastic! We're also thrilled with the styling. The sweet posters on the wall, the bunting, and the little swans. It's turned out exactly as we'd hoped. It's completely finished. Feline, even though she's small, is also thrilled. The handmade Lelle and Me dolls are her favorite. She absolutely adores them!"
