James's boys play and bedroom

Sleeping in the attic is extra fun when you get to share the large space with your brother. Not only Duke, but big brother James also got a brand-new room for Tuk Make-Over! With a loft bed and tons of play space, James can build, romp, and oh yeah: sleep ;) There's even a cozy place for his niece(s) or little brother to stay! Come take a look inside James's cool attic room.

Whale wallpaper and stripes

When we visited Arjanne and Stijn's home in March to style and photograph the boys' rooms, we received a very warm welcome from Stijn's mother. After a delicious cappuccino and a treat, we were able to admire the boys' attic rooms in person for the first time. And they turned out great! Stijn and Arjanne were working on them and we'll meet them later that day. But they worked incredibly hard to get both rooms spotless for Tuk Make-Over today! James's (5) room is at the back of the house and, like his brother Duke's , has a high wall and a sloped ceiling. I wanted to highlight the height of the room with wallpaper. We chose Whale wallpaper from Studio Ditte. To break up the height of the wall, I combined the Whale wallpaper with Caramel Stripes. A decorative strip was placed at the transition between the two wallpapers, painted in the light blue "Foggy" by Studio Day at the Zoo.

Sleeping in a loft bed

James had a big wish for his new room: a loft bed. Arjanne: “James loves playing outside, soccer, swimming, and lots of climbing. Ever since he slept in a loft bed on vacation, it's been his dream to have such a cool loft bed himself. He loves climbing in and out of his loft bed and can't wait for his niece(s) to come stay in his room.” To avoid blocking too much light from the room, we opted for the Lulu mid-height loft bed from Petit Puk. The bed has been given a central place in the room, which is further furnished with a spacious wardrobe (Pax Ikea) with a homemade desk attached to it. Under the sloped ceiling is the fun Shappy play bench, which is regularly converted into a hut or used as a bouncy castle. The room's layout keeps the space airy and uncluttered, while also creating a cozy haven for James where he feels completely at home.

A surprising boy's room

Arjanne: "I think James's room turned out beautifully. It's practical, with a large desk and a big wardrobe. It has room for toys and plenty of room for James to move around. I think the wallpaper combination looks surprisingly nice!"
